Pakistani politics saw a significant development recently as the United Nations called for an investigation into the enforced disappearances of MQM workers. In a statement, MQM Chief Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui expressed gratitude to the government for approving the grant. He stated that efforts will continue to recover missing persons and provide support to their families. The MQM will also extend its support to families of its workers who have gone missing across the country.
The MQM chief criticized the government’s handling of the issue, stating that the party has the highest number of missing workers in Pakistan. He announced that the MQM will soon meet with the Prime Minister to discuss the matter further.
Other notable figures, including Mustafa Kamal and Talal Chaudhry, have also expressed their views on the issue. Mustafa Kamal stated that he had stopped talking about the MQM’s founder two years ago, describing him as a drama artist. Talal Chaudhry expressed doubts about the MQM founder’s intentions, stating that he may be trying to return to the country.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori advised the government to adopt the same approach with PTI as it has with the MQM. He also pointed out that several roads in the city, including Jinnah Road, are in dire need of attention.
Sources revealed that a customs officer intervened to prevent a fight between two individuals, and a video of the incident went viral. The funeral prayers of MQM worker Dr. Imran Farooq’s wife, Shamila Imran Farooq, were held at the Rahmania Mosque.
