The widow of slain MQM leader Dr Imran Farooq, Shamaila Farooq, was laid to rest in the Society Cemetery after the funeral prayer was offered at the Rahmania Mosque in Karachi. The MQM sources claimed that Shamaila Farooq was undergoing treatment for cancer at a London hospital. On this occasion, MQM leader Mustafa Kamal, Farooq Star, Anis Qaimkhani, and others were present. After the funeral prayer, the deceased was buried in the Society Cemetery. The body of Shamaila Farooq was brought to Karachi via Istanbul from London on the previous day. Shamaila Farooq passed away on December 19 in a local hospital in London after a prolonged illness. It is worth noting that MQM leader Dr Imran Farooq was killed in a brutal murder in the UK on September 11, 2010, which was exactly 11 years ago. Shamaila Farooq was admitted to a London hospital on September 18, 2021, after being subjected to a brutal and inhumane murder attempt. Shamaila Farooq claimed that she was suffering from cancer, living in a small flat with two children, and was forced to live in a one-room flat. She questioned where the MQM leaders, who claimed to be the champions of martyrs’ families, had gone. According to a report by Geo News, Shamaila Farooq was unable to speak, her left ear had lost its hearing, and her digestive system had been severely affected. Shamaila Farooq and her two children, Alishan Farooq and Wajdan Farooq, were abandoned by the MQM London wing, as well as other MQM leaders in Pakistan, including those in London and Pakistan. None of them provided any financial assistance to the family. Shamaila Farooq had tweeted that she was fighting cancer alone, and she was abandoned by her family. A few years ago, it was reported that Dr Imran Farooq’s widow was living in a small flat above a grocery store, which was provided by the local council. Dr Imran Farooq was killed on September 16, 2010, outside his residence in London. The case was pursued in Pakistan, while the Scotland Yard in London was unable to catch the killers. In 2015, the FIA filed a case against MQM leaders, including its founder, for allegedly being involved in the murder of Dr Imran Farooq. The case also named three MQM activists, Mushtaq Ali, Maaz Khan, and Khaleel Shammim, who were charged with the murder. According to media reports, another suspect, Kashif Khan Kamran, had died. Mustafa Kamal said that he had stopped talking to the MQM founder two years ago, as he was a drama-loving person. He added that the MQM founder should be imprisoned in Adiala Jail, which was a historical jail. Talal Chaudhry said that it was uncertain what the MQM founder would say during the meeting, as he wanted to go back to the “good old days.” Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori said that the same approach should be taken with PTI as with MQM. Several roads, including Jehangir Road, in the city are awaiting government attention. According to sources, a customs officer helped in the smuggling racket, and a video of the fight surfaced. Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar visited the homes of PTI leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Yasmin Rashid, and Azeem Durrani in Lahore. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that there was complete agreement and clarity between the civil and military leadership on the issue. It was decided that Pakistan would not participate in any war-like activities. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said that the Customs Enforcement in Quetta had seized goods worth Rs 31.7 billion. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa issued a warning about snow and avalanches in the province.
