A high-profile corruption scandal has unfolded in the Indian state of Telangana, with a Deputy Transport Commissioner, Modukuri Keshav, facing multiple charges of amassing disproportionate assets. According to reports, the government has seized properties worth ₹12.72 crore, but investigators believe the market value of these assets could be significantly higher. An ACB official estimated that Keshav’s total assets could be worth over ₹100 crore, with the value of his 31-acre agricultural land alone amounting to around ₹62 crore.
The case has been dubbed a “historic scandal” due to the sheer magnitude of the assets allegedly acquired by a public servant. Keshav’s monthly salary is reportedly between ₹1 lakh and ₹1.25 lakh. In a shocking development, ACB officials have raided 11 locations linked to Keshav, including his residence and those of his close relatives, and seized a significant amount of valuable and commercial assets.
The investigation has revealed that Keshav has a 50% stake in an international hotel, while his assets also include a valuable furniture showroom covering 3,000 square feet. Keshav’s assets also include 31 acres of agricultural land and 10 acres of commercial land, along with ₹1.37 crore in bank deposits, gold jewelry worth over 1 kilogram, and luxury cars.
The ACB has filed multiple cases against Keshav under the Prevention of Corruption Act, alleging that he accumulated the assets through corrupt means. The Indian media has reported that maintaining a hotel and showroom business as a government official is a clear violation of the law.
