Sheikh Faisal Naeem, a renowned adhan (call to prayer) caller of the Mosque of the Prophet Muhammad, has passed away. His funeral prayer was offered on the previous day after the Fajr prayer, and he was buried in the historic Jannat al-Baqi cemetery in Medina. According to a post shared on social media platform X by the Haramain Sharifain administration, Sheikh Faisal Naeem passed away on Monday, December 22. His funeral prayer was offered on Tuesday, December 23, after the Fajr prayer at the Mosque of the Prophet Muhammad, followed by his burial in the Jannat al-Baqi cemetery. The Haramain administration also shared a video of Sheikh Faisal Naeem’s last adhan, which he gave on November 2.
Sheikh Faisal Naeem was appointed as the adhan caller of the Mosque of the Prophet Muhammad in 2001. The tradition of calling adhan was passed down in his family, with his father and grandfather also serving as adhan callers at the mosque. According to the administration, Sheikh Faisal’s father was appointed as an adhan caller at the age of 14. He continued to serve at the mosque until his last days, passing away at the age of over 90. After his father’s death, Sheikh Faisal took over the responsibility and served for 25 years.
