A disturbing video has emerged of a doctor beating a patient in a hospital in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The incident occurred at the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh. According to reports, a team of three local cricketers attacked the coach after being left out of the team, but the video that has been shared on social media shows a doctor beating a patient who was lying in bed.
The patient, Arjun Panwar, said he had come to the hospital for medical tests and was experiencing difficulty breathing after a bronchoscopy. Panwar claimed that the doctor started being abusive without any reason. He alleged that when he asked for oxygen, the doctor questioned his admission, and when he requested to be spoken to with respect, the doctor became aggressive and started beating him.
Panwar further stated that when he asked the doctor if he spoke to his family members in the same manner, the doctor replied that he was having a personal conversation and then started beating him. The video shows the doctor hitting Panwar repeatedly while he tries to protect himself.
The hospital administration has formed a three-member inquiry committee to investigate the incident, which is expected to submit its report in a few hours. The Medical Superintendent has confirmed that an FIR has been filed against the doctor.
