The federal minister for information and broadcasting, Ataullah Tarar, has stated that appeals and cases will be heard in their due time. During a discussion on the program “Naya Pakistan” on Jio News, Tarar defended the convictions of PTI founders, saying that the sentences were based on justice. He claimed that the 17-year sentence imposed on PTI founders will start after the 190 million-pound sentence is completed. Tarar stated that PTI founder and his wife, along with their lawyer Salman Safdar, were present in court when the verdict was announced.
Tarar claimed that it was written somewhere that family members should be present in court when a verdict is announced, adding that this case should have been decided last year. He questioned why PTI founder would be treated as a special prisoner, having their appeal heard first. Tarar stated that appeals and cases should be heard in their due time. He added that they should focus on their work in their respective provinces, as the country is moving towards stability, and if anyone creates a rift, the law will come into action.
Tarar also stated that if the PTI had asked for mercy, they would have responded, but as long as they do not, there is no room for negotiations. He added that their statements in India and Afghanistan are still working, and until they are stopped, there can be no dialogue. Tarar stated that whatever is to happen will be done in accordance with the UN mandate and in line with the hopes of the people of Gaza.
