A chilling murder case has emerged from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where police have apprehended a man accused of brutally killing his live-in partner, allegedly decapitating her, and then immediately proceeding with preparations for his wedding to another woman.
The prime suspect, identified as Bilal, a taxi driver, was taken into custody by authorities following a multi-state investigation. He stands accused of the murder of 30-year-old Uma, whose remains were discovered near the Kalesar National Park in Haryana, prompting a probe that crossed state borders.
### The Breakdown and Motive
Police reports indicate that Bilal and Uma had been in a relationship for approximately two years, during which Bilal is alleged to have covered her living expenses. Uma, who resided alone in Saharanpur with her 13-year-old son, had a complex personal history, including leaving home prior to a planned marriage 15 years ago, followed by a subsequent divorce approximately 18 months ago.
Investigators have determined that the motive for the alleged crime was Bilal’s desire to terminate the relationship with Uma so he could proceed with a planned marriage to another woman.
### Timeline of the Atrocity
Details emerging from the police investigation paint a grim picture of the events leading up to the murder on the evening of December 6th.
According to statements gathered by the police, Bilal drove Uma out of Saharanpur, traveling for nearly six hours across various locations. The situation escalated during an alleged dispute when Uma reportedly attacked Bilal with a sharp weapon. In response, Bilal is said to have reacted violently, strangling the victim.
Following the initial assault, Bilal transported Uma’s body to a desolate area near Lal Dhang Ghati, where he allegedly murdered her and subsequently severed her head.
Shockingly, after committing the heinous act, Bilal reportedly returned to Saharanpur and immediately immersed himself in shopping and preparations for his upcoming wedding, acting as if the crime had never occurred.
### Investigation and Recovery
The family of the deceased became aware of the tragedy only after police contacted them during the course of the investigation. Uma’s son informed authorities that his mother had visited him briefly about 15 days before the incident, leaving him clothes, but expressing reluctance to remain with him.
Bilal was formally arrested and, during interrogation, led investigators to the concealed location of Uma’s head, confirming key details of the crime. Authorities are currently continuing their search efforts to recover the specific weapon used in the murder.
Forensic examination of the crime scene and recovery of additional evidence are ongoing as the police work to build a comprehensive case against the accused.
