TEHRAN: Three personnel belonging to Iran’s elite security force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), were killed during a severe armed clash in the country’s southeastern border region near Zahedan. This area has long been a focal point for internal security challenges and cross-border tensions.
According to Iranian state media reports from Tehran, the confrontation took place while the Revolutionary Guards were conducting a specialized operation in the Zahedan border region, where they encountered armed resistance.
The attack has been officially classified as an act of terrorism. Iranian media confirmed that security forces have since launched extensive search and raid operations to capture the “terrorists” responsible for the deadly attack and to stabilize the volatile border area.
