ISLAMABAD—On the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the Federal Government’s pledge not to use the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for political vendetta. Speaking at a ceremony held at the Prime Minister’s House, he lauded NAB’s efforts against financial malpractice, calling them “commendable.”
Prime Minister Sharif extended praise to the NAB Chairman and the entire team for their successful anti-corruption operations. He assured that NAB enjoys “complete institutional autonomy” to continue its work with transparency and impartiality, dismissing the longstanding political accusations of selective accountability.
The Prime Minister underscored the vital link between an honest society and national growth, stating that a society free from financial corruption is essential for ensuring prosperity, development, and public trust. He affirmed that securing financial, administrative, and institutional transparency in government projects remains a top priority for his administration. Pakistan, he added, will continue to systematically enhance its measures to curb financial misconduct.
Highlighting the nation’s future, the Prime Minister described Pakistani youth as a valuable asset that guarantees a peaceful, prosperous, and developed future for the country. The event took place shortly after NAB transferred 166 cases related to Sindh to the provincial Anti-Corruption department, indicating ongoing efforts to streamline accountability processes across federal and provincial tiers.
