KARACHI—A profoundly distressing incident has shaken the port city of Karachi after the bodies of three women were discovered inside a flat in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area. The police investigation into this tragic event has revealed a dark layer of financial hardship, suggesting a potential link between the family’s economic distress and the disaster.
Police sources confirmed that the affected family was heavily indebted, owing over PKR 15 million (approximately USD 53,800). Authorities also disclosed that they had already received complaints regarding a debt amounting to PKR 7.5 million. The investigation further unveiled signs of financial strain: the family was renting both the house and one of their vehicles, while a second vehicle was under a bank lease. The son was reportedly involved in the property business.
According to preliminary findings, the son allegedly consumed sleeping pills mixed in juice, leading to his deterioration. Crucially, the police recovered a letter from the father’s possession, which is currently undergoing thorough forensic examination to uncover further clues.
In light of the circumstances, police have taken both the father and the son into custody for questioning. However, the exact cause of the women’s deaths remains unclear and is pending the official post-mortem report. This heartbreaking incident tragically highlights the immense financial pressures faced by families, even in urban centers, and the devastating consequences they can entail.
