PESHAWAR – The political temperature in Pakistan surged after a serious allegation was leveled by Shafiullah Jan, the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information. Jan claimed that the federal government has a calculated “complete plan” to impose a ban on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Speaking on Geo News’ program ‘Capital Talk’, the Special Assistant voiced deep concern over the federal government’s handling of the political landscape. He argued that federal ministers are aggressively capitalizing on the events of May 9 for political gain.
Jan stressed that a conducive and trustworthy environment is essential for political dialogue and reconciliation, suggesting that such an atmosphere is currently non-existent. His statement—”The government has a complete plan to ban the PTI”—underscores a profound sense of distrust and hostility towards the ruling coalition.
The PTI representative warned explicitly that the federal government might not only impose a ban on the party but could also initiate treason cases against its members. This claim follows a resolution passed by the Punjab Assembly urging a ban on a party described as an “instrument of an enemy state,” widely understood to be referencing the PTI. Shafiullah Jan’s allegations emerge at a critical juncture, deepening Pakistan’s ongoing political crisis and intensifying the parliamentary divide.
