Pakistan’s celebrated actress, Mahira Khan, has addressed the intense criticism surrounding a viral emotional clip from her upcoming film ‘Neelofar.’ Speaking at a recent event, the actress candidly discussed the pressure of her fame and the deep commitment she brought to the demanding role.
In the film, which features Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan plays the challenging character of a visually impaired girl, a role that has generated significant public interest. A highly emotional scene from the film recently went viral on social media, showing her character, Neelofar, crying and hitting herself. Many users criticized the style of her acting in this specific moment.
Responding to the scrutiny regarding the viral content, Mahira Khan acknowledged the extent of her popularity: “I know that whatever I do, whether I do something or not, every action of mine goes viral.” She further confessed the toll it takes: “The truth is, whatever I do goes viral. Whether I do something or not, sometimes all of this makes me feel exhausted.”
While stating that she does not take criticism in a negative way, she admitted that the “uproar surrounding viral clips sometimes mentally exhausts me.” Defending her performance, Mahira Khan maintained that ‘Neelofar’ was a difficult character which she attempted to portray with complete honesty and sensitivity. She also revealed that she spent time with visually impaired girls to bring authenticity to the role.
