The ongoing brutal conflict in Sudan has been marked by another horrific incident targeting civilians and vital infrastructure. The Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) revealed that attacks carried out on a kindergarten and a hospital in Sudan on Thursday have resulted in a staggering 114 deaths.
The WHO chief confirmed that these assaults also left 35 people injured. Providing further, devastating detail, he specified that the victims of the attacks in Sudan’s Redfan province included 63 children, underscoring the severity of the conflict and its catastrophic toll on the most vulnerable population.
In the wake of these tragic events, the Head of the global health body issued an urgent call for a sustained ceasefire in Sudan to halt the ongoing war and bloodshed.
Coinciding with this urgent appeal, a significant shift in the internal situation has occurred: news agencies report that Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have seized control of the vital Heglig oil field in Redfan province. This development highlights that intense fighting continues and is now directly impacting the country’s critical economic and energy resources.
