A rare moment of humour and lightheartedness disrupted the otherwise serious proceedings of Pakistan’s National Assembly session when a member’s currency accidentally fell onto the chamber floor.
The incident occurred after a piece of money was spotted on the ground. Speaker Ayaz Sadiq picked up the cash and humorously inquired of the assembled members, “Whose money is this?” The response was immediate and unexpected: numerous lawmakers raised their hands.
The Speaker highlighted the comic situation, announcing, “Twelve members have raised their hands for this!” This statement instantly dissolved the tension, causing a wave of laughter to sweep through the House. As the session concluded, the Speaker later confirmed that the cash had been identified and successfully returned to its rightful owner, MNA Iqbal Afridi. The brief incident provided a refreshing glimpse into the human side of the country’s political arena.
