The political tension in Pakistan escalated sharply as Rana Sanaullah, Senior Leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, made a profoundly serious statement regarding the fate of the PTI founder. In a clear and unambiguous declaration, he stated that the possibility of filing a treason case against the PTI founder could not be ruled out.
Speaking to a private television channel, Rana Sanaullah emphasized that the government fully endorsed the “clear message” delivered by the Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) in a recent press conference. He warned that if PTI treats the institutional warning lightly, the consequences will be severe, indicating the administration is unified in its response to the opposition’s conduct.
The Advisor leveled a critical accusation, claiming that the narrative disseminated following the attack on the Jaffer Express train was concurrently promoted by media elements affiliated with PTI, India, and Afghanistan. He suggested that a tweet released following the founder’s meeting with his sister in jail was a pivotal factor in the decision-making process. Rana Sanaullah further alleged that the sister had violated a prior agreement with jail authorities not to issue any public statements after the meeting, adding that the founder did not even inquire about his sister’s well-being during their meeting.
Concluding with a stark political prophecy, Rana Sanaullah warned that the PTI is heading towards a devastating fate, similar to that of the MQM and its founder. He predicted that the party would soon shrink into “Adiala Tehreek-e-Insaf,” as the majority of its members would refuse to be a part of what he termed the founder’s “madness.”
