Doha, Qatar β Regarding the ongoing efforts to secure a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, the Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, has stated that the negotiations have reached a ‘delicate juncture.’ His announcement reflects a mixed sense of hope and peril as the peace efforts enter their final stages.
Speaking at the 23rd Doha Forum, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani confirmed that the mediators are working diligently to push forward the next and more substantive phase of the ceasefire.
Elaborating on the current situation, he stated: “We are at a critical moment but we have not reached the destination yet.” He maintained that what has been achieved so far cannot be called a ceasefire; it was merely a temporary pause.
The Qatari Prime Minister unequivocally presented a final condition, stressing that a ceasefire in Gaza cannot be considered complete until there is a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Strip. This demand clarifies the political prerequisite being sought by Hamas and other parties for enduring peace. These negotiations remain vital for protecting human lives and restoring stability in the region.
