Karachi: In a heartbreaking incident reflecting the vulnerability of citizens in Karachi, legendary Sindhi singer and former PTV producer Bedil Masroor has been robbed of his life savings. The thieves struck his home twice in just two days, stealing a total of 7 million rupees (70 lakhs).
The tragedy is compounded by the fact that the money was meant for the medical treatment of Masroor’s ailing wife. To pay for her bills, he had recently sold a residential plot. Fearing theft, he tried to be clever and hid the cash inside two empty ghee (cooking oil) tins, thinking no one would suspect valuable currency to be stored in kitchen containers.
However, the burglars seemed to have precise knowledge of the hiding spot. According to the singer, the thieves entered his home in Sachal Goth through a room facing the street. In the first incident, they took away a tin containing 3 million rupees. Astonishingly, they returned the very next day to steal the second tin containing 4 million rupees.
Masroor shared the painful details, explaining that while the robbery was taking place, his family was in another room reciting the Quran for his wife’s recovery, which is why no one heard the intruders. The incident has left the artist deprived of the critical funds needed for his wife’s healthcare.
