Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, currently promoting his film Masti 4, has revealed a life-threatening road accident that fundamentally changed his travel habits, leading him to avoid nighttime road journeys entirely.
During a recent interview, Oberoi discussed his early career struggles, noting that despite being the son of veteran actor Suresh Oberoi, he chose to work as an assistant to choreographer Farah Khan. He explained that he cleaned rehearsal rooms and served tea, driven by the desire to earn recognition based purely on his own efforts rather than his family name.
Recounting the terrifying accident, the actor explained that he was driving late at night for a shoot and had repeatedly asked his driver to slow down due to poor visibility. The vehicle subsequently collided with a camel cart, and the metal bars of the cart pierced the car. He attributes his survival to the fact that he had reclined his front seat. The trauma of this near-fatal experience was severe enough for him to implement his strict rule against night travel.
In a lighter anecdote, Oberoi shared a funny incident from the 2004 filming of Masti, where he pranked co-star Aftab Shivdasani by hiding his new Mercedes. Oberoi recounted that Aftab’s reaction was extreme, causing his blood pressure to drop, after which he strictly requested that the actor never joke with his car again.
