King Abdullah II of Jordan, currently on a two-day visit to Pakistan, held comprehensive discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad, resulting in a commitment to significantly upgrade bilateral relations. The two leaders agreed to expand cooperation across a broad spectrum of areas including economic engagement, trade, investment, health, science and technology, education, and defense.
A tangible outcome of the high-level meeting was the exchange of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at bolstering collaboration in the media, cultural, and educational sectors.
Addressing the critical regional crisis, both leaders emphasized the necessity of strengthening coordination among the eight Islamic nations involved in diplomacy for an immediate Gaza ceasefire. They collectively highlighted the consistent and principled stance shared by both Pakistan and Jordan regarding the situation in Gaza.
Prime Minister Sharif also briefed King Abdullah on Pakistan’s relations with Afghanistan and India, offering a regional security overview. King Abdullah, in turn, acknowledged Pakistan’s crucial role in maintaining peace and stability across the region.
The joint statement reaffirmed the commitment to deepening strategic and economic ties, with both nations pledging to expand mutually beneficial cooperation at various regional and international forums.
