On the occasion of International Tolerance Day, President Asif Ali Zardari expressed solidarity with the global community, reaffirming that the Constitution of Pakistan provides a complete guarantee of religious freedom and fundamental rights for all its citizens.
In his statement, the President underscored Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to fostering tolerance, peace, and mutual respect—values essential for a cohesive and diverse society. He highlighted the core tenets of Islam, stating that the religion advocates for humanity, compassion, and justice, which naturally guide the state’s behavior towards all communities.
President Zardari reiterated that the protection of the rights of non-Muslim citizens remains a top priority for the government. Towards this end, the administration is actively striving to eliminate social and religious exploitation and is ensuring the robust implementation of its interfaith harmony policy.
He pointed to recent legislative measures as crucial steps forward in protecting minority rights. Specifically mentioning the ‘National Commission for Minorities Rights Bill 2025,’ the President hailed it as a significant development aimed at ensuring the full and effective realization of rights for all minority groups within the country.
