Federal Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja has asserted that the ‘Digital Pakistan Act’ serves as the foundational legal framework that both safeguards and reinforces the nation’s ambitious digital vision. She made these remarks while addressing the 27th National Security Workshop held in Islamabad.
The Minister confirmed that the Ministry of IT enjoys complete backing from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), and the Federal Cabinet, which is crucial for the successful execution of the digital transformation agenda.
She emphasized that Pakistan’s digital sector stands as a vital pillar for economic security, strategic resilience, and global competitiveness. Identifying Digital Governance, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Cybersecurity as decisive areas for the country’s future, she stressed the ongoing efforts to continuously strengthen the national cyber resilience.
Ms. Fatima also acknowledged the unified collaboration between the armed forces, government institutions, and the private sector in enhancing the nation’s cyber defense capabilities. She noted that the Ministry of IT, PTA, security forces, and private experts worked together on a unified platform to reinforce cyber defenses.
In a significant update, she highlighted the decision by Google to open an office in Pakistan as a major milestone for the technology sector. According to the Minister, cloud infrastructure will form the backbone of Pakistan’s digital future, with the ultimate objective being to transition citizens’ entire lives into a comprehensive digital environment.
