Pakistan is set to host a major international scientific gathering, the “International Conference on Applications of Space Science and Technology (ICAST-2025).” The event is expected to draw participants from 25 countries, with several crucial scientific cooperation agreements anticipated to be signed.
According to a spokesperson for SUPARCO (Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission), the conference is being held in collaboration with the Institute of Space Technology (IST) from November 18th to 20th. Key global organizations, including representatives from IEEE, ICESCO, APSCO, ASNET, and NCGS-A, will be attending the summit.
The core theme of ICAST-2025 is “The Role of Space Science and Technology for Sustainable Development,” focusing on the practical application of space knowledge to address Earth’s most pressing challenges. Special technical sessions are planned on critical human issues such as climate change, food security, disaster management, and sustainable infrastructure.
The three-day event features a packed agenda, including 5 Plenary Sessions, 23 Technical Sessions, and 12 Master Classes. In a unique blend of science and culture, a special session will also be dedicated to the scientific, religious, and technical aspects of moon sighting (Ruyat-e-Hilal).
