All attackers involved in the recent assault on the Cadet College in Wana, South Waziristan, have been neutralized by security forces following a successful and highly sensitive operation. Security sources confirm that four militants, including one suicide bomber, were killed after a meticulously planned counter-terrorism effort.
Crucially, security personnel ensured that no student or staff member sustained any harm during the tense operation. Following the clearance of the assailants, the college building is currently being swept for potential booby traps and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). At the time of the attack, approximately 650 individuals, including 525 cadets, were present in the college, all of whom have been safely rescued by the forces.
Security officials emphasized that the operation was conducted with extreme caution and precision, considering the high number of cadets whose lives were at risk. It was reported that the assailants, who were hiding in one of the college buildings, had links to Afghanistan and were receiving constant instructions from across the border.
The attack began on Monday when the militants rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the college’s main gate, which resulted in significant damage to the gate and adjacent structures. Pakistan Army personnel responded instantly, neutralizing two attackers in the initial engagement.
The morale of the rescued students remains high. They paid tribute to the security forces for their bravery in repelling the terrorist attack. This successful intervention reinforces the nation’s commitment to defending its educational institutions and dealing decisively with the continuous threat of cross-border terrorism.
