Political leader urges parties to actively safeguard provincial interests through key legislation
Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani, a former Senator and prominent political figure from Balochistan, has voiced deep concern over what he perceives as the alarming silence of opposition parties regarding the legislation governing the province’s rich natural resources. He suggests this lack of action poses a risk to Balochistan’s interests.
In a statement issued from Quetta, Lashkari Raisani disclosed that he has formally written to all political parties regarding the ‘Mines and Minerals Act’. He strongly urged the political leadership to play an active and effective role in this crucial legislative matter, keeping the broader interests of the province as their priority.
According to Raisani, while the Mines and Minerals Act was formally withdrawn through a joint resolution in the Provincial Assembly, the official copy of the Executive Order concerning the repeal has not yet been provided. Expressing dissatisfaction with this lack of transparency, he stated that he has been compelled to approach the court to obtain a copy of the Chief Minister’s Executive Order.
Raisani’s efforts highlight his commitment to ensuring provincial control and benefit from Balochistan’s mineral wealth. He expects the country’s political parties to break their silence and actively engage in this critical economic and constitutional issue.
