Dubai: The controversial issue concerning the Asia Cup trophy was not formally included on the agenda or discussed during the recent meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The meeting was held today in Dubai, attended by representatives from various boards, including Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
Sources confirmed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also did not officially address the Asia Cup trophy issue during the proceedings. This suggests that both key parties refrained from raising the matter on the global platform.
However, sources indicate that after the conclusion of the meeting, some board members informally approached the representatives from Pakistan and India to discuss resolving the dispute. These board members urged both nations to settle the trophy controversy through mutual understanding and cooperation as soon as possible.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also gave his opinion on the matter, stating that the Asia Cup trophy issue “should definitely be resolved.” His statement indicates the PCB’s desire to conclude the dispute in an amicable environment. This informal intervention is viewed as an attempt by the wider cricket community to resolve persistent issues in sporting relations through back-channel diplomacy.
