An unusual video showing the Balochistan provincial government’s helicopter being towed by a simple agricultural tractor has gone viral on social media, sparking public debate over the management of state resources and technical infrastructure in the province.
The widely circulated footage clearly depicts the government helicopter—routinely used by the Chief Minister, provincial ministers, and senior officials for tours across the province—being moved across the airport apron with the aid of a tractor. The sight has drawn surprise and criticism from numerous social media users.
Provincial authorities have responded to the incident, clarifying their position. Officials stated that a dedicated ‘tug’ vehicle is available for moving the helicopter from the hangar to the runway. However, they admitted that in the event of the ‘tug’ breaking down or becoming inoperable, a tractor is utilized as a contingency measure for towing.
The officials also confirmed that the government helicopter is in fully functional and flight-worthy condition. Nonetheless, the visual of a high-value state asset being moved in such a manner raises concerns about the maintenance and availability of essential ground support equipment within provincial institutions.
