An unusual incident unfolded in Faisalabad when local police detained ‘Ustad Qamar,’ a young man who had gained social media prominence for his rat-catching profession. His arrest was triggered by a viral, though old, video in which he was allegedly seen staging a fight between a rat and a mongoose for publicity.
Following investigation, it was confirmed that the video in question was nearly eighteen months old. Consequently, the police issued a stern warning to Ustad Qamar and subsequently released him.
After his release, Ustad Qamar issued a public statement, expressing his regret to the Punjab Police for arranging the animal fight and promising not to cause harm to any animal in the future.
In the widely circulated video, the young man also announced his decision to permanently quit his rat-catching job, stating it was based on the wishes of his family. He informed the public that he has secured new employment at a textile factory and urged people not to contact him for rat-catching services anymore. The incident has sparked fresh discussion regarding the pursuit of social media fame and animal welfare rights.
