Globally recognized Pakistani actress Saba Qamar has initiated stern legal action against journalist Naeem Hanif following serious and baseless allegations against her character, issuing a legal notice demanding PKR 100 Million (10 Crore) in damages. This move represents a strong stance by artists against online slander and fake news.
The legal action follows a recent statement by Saba Qamar regarding Karachi, after which journalist Naeem Hanif made controversial claims about the actress’s past. The journalist alleged that Qamar lived in Lahore with a man she was in a relationship with back in 2003-2004, and that the man began harassing her when they did not marry.
Actress’s Strong Legal Response
In response to these grave accusations, Saba Qamar has filed a defamation suit against the journalist. The legal notice demands that the journalist:
- Retract his statement within seven days.
- Issue a public unconditional apology.
- Pay the actress PKR 100 Million in damages.
Saba Qamar’s Message to the Industry
Sharing a story on Instagram, Saba Qamar vehemently denied the journalist’s allegations, stating, “I have taken legal action today against a journalist who leveled false and baseless accusations against me.”
She urged her fans, colleagues, and the entire industry to stand up for themselves:
“I want to tell everyone… don’t stay silent when someone defames or disrespects you. No one has the right to accuse you falsely just to gain attention… Raise your voice against such behavior and hold people accountable.”
The actress concluded her message with a call for change: “Let’s bring change by speaking the truth and standing strong.”
