A shocking crime has rocked Bengaluru, India, where a doctor, after allegedly murdering his wife, sent a deeply disturbing message to another woman, confessing: “I killed my wife for you.” This unprecedented digital confession has stunned both the police and the public, shedding light on the perpetrator’s dark psychological state.
According to police officials, Dr. Mahendra Reddy GS, who was arrested last month for the murder of his dermatologist wife, Dr. Karthika M Reddy, sent the chilling message to at least four to five women just weeks after the crime.
Confession via Digital Payment App
Police authorities revealed that Dr. Mahendra used the ‘PhonePe’ mobile payment application to send the bizarre message, rather than a conventional messaging service. The confession was written in the transaction note section, where the doctor wrote: “I killed my wife for you.”
Investigations disclosed that one of the recipients was a female doctor who had previously rejected Dr. Mahendra’s marriage proposal. Police suggest that the doctor was making a desperate and dangerous attempt to rekindle old relationships following his wife’s death.
The Method of Murder
Dr. Mahendra is accused of administering Propofol, an anesthetic drug exclusively used in operating theatres, to his wife, who was also his colleague at Victoria Hospital.
The couple married on May 26, 2024. Less than a year later, on April 23, 2025, Dr. Karthika suddenly collapsed at her father’s residence. During this time, Dr. Mahendra had administered multiple intravenous injections over two days, claiming they were part of her treatment. Karthika was rushed to a nearby private hospital but was pronounced dead.
The police recovered the chilling evidence after seizing the accused’s mobile phone and laptop and sending the data to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis. Further evidence is being processed, and the case is expected to proceed to court shortly.
