Kenya’s Honaz Lokitum Kilimo claimed the men’s title, while Ethiopia’s Edera Menila won the women’s event at the Istanbul Marathon, the world’s only race that spans two continents. Over 50,000 runners from around the globe participated in the iconic event, which crosses from Asia to Europe.
In the men’s race, Kilimo finished the 42.195-kilometer course in 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 11 seconds. He was followed by Ethiopian runners Debela and Kibato, who took second and third place, respectively.
Ethiopia’s Edera Menila dominated the women’s category, crossing the finish line with a time of 2 hours, 26 minutes, and 18 seconds.
Pakistan also had a notable presence, with 12 runners successfully completing the marathon. Among the Pakistanis, Mubariz bin Rafay was the fastest male runner, while Sahar Ali Janjua from Karachi was the fastest female runner from the contingent. Geo News’ Deputy Sports Editor, Faizan Lakhani, was also among the finishers.
In other marathon news, Zeeshan Ali from Sialkot, Pakistan, achieved an impressive feat by completing the Seoul Marathon in South Korea in just 2 hours and 45 minutes.
