The Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan has been struck by a powerful earthquake, resulting in significant casualties. According to initial reports, at least 20 people have been killed and more than 320 others are injured.
The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported the earthquake’s magnitude as 6.3. It struck at a very shallow depth of only 10 kilometers, which often increases the potential for damage.
Strong tremors were felt across various parts of Afghanistan, causing widespread panic as people rushed out of their homes and buildings. Rescue efforts are underway, and there are fears that the number of casualties could rise.
