The Balochistan government has made a significant decision aimed at reforming its juvenile justice system. The government will construct a separate jail specifically for young offenders, separating them from adult criminals and focusing on their rehabilitation.
According to prison department officials, the new facility is estimated to cost 750 million rupees (75 crore) and will be built in the provincial capital, Quetta. Construction is expected to begin soon.
In the meantime, officials stated that a temporary jail for these young inmates will be set up on Saryab Road until the new building is complete.
This new facility is being designed as a “model jail.” Authorities have confirmed that it will include both a school for formal education and a vocational training center. The goal is to provide these young offenders with practical skills and education, aiming to help them reintegrate into society as productive citizens after serving their time.
