Pakistan’s star batter, Babar Azam, has set a new world record in T20 International cricket, establishing himself as the format’s all-time leading run-scorer and overtaking Indian captain Rohit Sharma.
This historic achievement was unlocked during the second T20 match against South Africa at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Babar Azam now sits at the top of the T20I run charts. He reached this milestone in his 123rd inning, bringing his career total to 4,232 runs.
The previous record was held by Rohit Sharma, who had scored 4,231 runs in his 151 innings. Babar broke the record during his 11-run not-out performance in the match.
This personal milestone came during a successful team effort, as Pakistan comfortably defeated South Africa by 9 wickets.
In the global rankings for T20I runs, India’s Virat Kohli is now in third place, having scored 4,188 runs in 117 innings.
