Residents in Pakistan’s largest city, Karachi, felt a moment of concern on Friday afternoon as mild earthquake tremors shook parts of the metropolis.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department quickly confirmed the seismic event. According to the details released, the tremor was recorded at 3:39 PM.
The magnitude of the quake was measured at only 2.2 on the Richter scale, classifying it as a very minor event.
Officials also stated that the earthquake was shallow, with a depth of just 10 kilometers underground. Its epicenter was located 24 kilometers north of the DHA Karachi area. Although the magnitude was low, its shallow depth allowed it to be felt by some residents.
