DOHA – The emerging cricket teams of Pakistan and India are set to face each other once again as Asia’s young cricketers prepare to compete in the “Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025” in Doha next month.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has officially renamed the Emerging Asia Cup tournament. This 2025 edition will be played in a T20 format from November 14 to 23.
The event will feature the same eight teams that participated in last month’s main Asia Cup in the UAE: Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Oman, the UAE, and Hong Kong. A total of 15 matches will be played.
In a grouping that ensures a high-stakes encounter, rivals Pakistan A and India A have once again been placed in the same group, alongside the UAE and Oman. Group A includes Bangladesh A, Afghanistan A, Sri Lanka A, and Hong Kong.
The highly anticipated group stage clash between Pakistan and India is scheduled for November 16.
A key change in the tournament structure is the removal of the “Super Four” stage. This means that a maximum of only two matches between Pakistan and India will be possible during the event (one group match and a potential second in the semi-finals or final). The top two teams from each group will advance directly to the semi-finals, with the final set for November 23.
In the previous edition of the tournament, Afghanistan A won the title by defeating Sri Lanka A in the final.
