NAVI MUMBAI – India has qualified for the ICC Women’s World Cup final after securing a thrilling 5-wicket victory over Australia in a high-scoring semi-final showdown in Navi Mumbai.
Batting first, the Australian team was bowled out for a formidable total of 338 in the final over. The innings was dominated by a stunning 119 from Phoebe Litchfield, whose knock included 17 fours and 3 sixes. She was well-supported by Ellyse Perry (77) and Ashleigh Gardner (63). For India, Shree Charani and Deepti Sharma took two wickets each.
Facing a daunting target, India’s chase was anchored by a magnificent, match-winning unbeaten 127 from Jemimah Rodrigues, who hit 14 boundaries. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also played a crucial role with a vital 89-run innings.
India successfully chased down the target in the 49th over for the loss of five wickets. Kim Garth and Annabel Sutherland picked up two wickets each for Australia, but it was not enough to stop the Indian charge.
India will now face South Africa in the tournament final on Sunday.
