LAHORE – A police service center in Lahore, established to facilitate the public, has been exposed as an alleged hub for corruption, following a sting operation that revealed driving licenses were being issued in exchange for bribes.
Police officials have confirmed the arrest of an 8-member gang involved in the scheme, which shockingly includes three active traffic wardens.
A formal case has been registered at the Gulberg police station based on a complaint filed by a Senior Traffic Warden.
According to police, the operation was initiated by sending an informant with 10,000 PKR to obtain a license at the Liberty Khidmat Markaz. Touts present at the center allegedly collected the money and took it to the wardens on duty. After “guaranteeing” that the license would be processed, the wardens then demanded an additional 15,000 PKR.
Police stated that following the touts’ identification, all three traffic wardens were arrested. The marked bribe money was reportedly recovered directly from one of the warden’s pockets, serving as key evidence in the case.
