ISLAMABAD: The Immigration and Passport Department has issued a strong clarification, denying any changes to the front cover page of the Pakistani passport.
The department stated that images circulating on social media purporting to show a new cover are “fake” and that all related rumors are “baseless.”
In its statement, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports confirmed that no modifications have been made to the front cover. The Director-General clarified that while some new internal security features have been added to the document, its external appearance and cover remain exactly the same.
The department has taken “strict notice” of this misinformation campaign. It appealed to all citizens to act responsibly and ignore such fake news.
Furthermore, the department warned that legal action would be pursued against any elements found to be spreading false propaganda regarding the national passport.
