In a desperate act of protest, an alleged sexual assault victim in Rahim Yar Khan climbed a high water tank, threatening suicide after authorities reportedly failed to register her case for four months. The incident has highlighted her painful search for justice against an allegedly influential individual.
Rescue and police personnel were quickly dispatched to the scene and successfully managed to bring the young woman down safely.
Following the rescue, the visibly distressed victim spoke to the media, making a direct and emotional appeal to Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz.
“Maryam Nawaz says she is the ‘red line’ for women,” the victim stated. “But I was assaulted, and I have been humiliated for four months trying to get justice. I haven’t received it. Where will I get justice from?”
The victim leveled serious accusations against the local District Police Officer (DPO), claiming he is protecting the “influential accused,” identified as Shahbaz, and actively preventing her case from being filed.
“If the DPO himself sides with the accused, where will the women of Pakistan find justice?” she asked.
The victim’s mother, who was also present, corroborated the claims. She alleged that the accused “kept assaulting her and made inappropriate videos.” The mother confirmed that when she went to the police station to file a report, the police refused to register the case against the influential suspect.
