The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has confirmed that approximately 495 transit vehicles are currently waiting to cross the border at the Torkham and Chaman crossings, following a temporary suspension of bilateral trade due to security concerns.
According to the FBR, 23 import vehicles are awaiting clearance at Torkham, as their importers have not yet filed the required Goods Declarations (GDs). These vehicles are carrying non-perishable items such as cloth, paint, and pulses. Additionally, 255 export vehicles are parked inside the Torkham terminal, with another 200 stuck on the Jamrud-Landi Kotal road, all awaiting movement.
At the Chaman border, customs operations have been suspended since October 15, 2025. Five import and 23 export vehicles are waiting to be processed. Officials noted that the owners of these shipments have refused to take them back, opting to wait for the border to reopen and trade to resume.
The FBR clarified that other border stations, including Ghulam Khan, Kharlachi, and Angoor Adda, have no pending import vehicles. The statement assured that customs staff remain present at the border points and will immediately resume clearance operations
