Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump has drawn scrutiny after a senior Indian journalist accused the Prime Minister of concealing the “real conversation.”
Prime Minister Modi publicly confirmed the call, thanking President Trump for his Diwali greetings. However, he allegedly “glossed over” critical parts of the discussion, specifically the US pressure on India to halt oil purchases from Russia and other significant trade matters.
Prominent Indian journalist Suhasini Haidar highlighted this discrepancy on social media. She pointed out that while Narendra Modi did mention terrorism in his account of the call, he failed to disclose “what was discussed regarding trade and oil purchases.” This omission has raised questions about the transparency of the Modi administration’s communications.
