The Pakistan Navy has struck a massive blow against international drug networks, seizing narcotics valued at nearly one billion dollars during a high-profile operation in the North Arabian Sea.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Navy ship PNS Yarmook conducted the successful anti-narcotics operation while operating under the Saudi-led Combined Task Force 150 (CTF-150). The operation resulted in the capture of drugs worth approximately $972 million.
The military’s spokesperson called this success a clear example of the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to regional maritime security and the collective global struggle against illegal smuggling. The statement noted that PNS Yarmook was operating as part of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), which focuses on ensuring maritime stability and preventing illegal activities, including terrorism.
Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, praised the PNS Yarmook crew for their professionalism and determination. He stated that the Pakistan Navy will continue to protect national maritime interests while playing a robust role in shared global maritime security. The Naval Chief also emphasized that this operation strengthens cooperation and defense ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended their congratulations to the Pakistan Navy for this extraordinary achievement.
President Zardari described it as a “shining example of national pride and professionalism,” adding that the operation highlights Pakistan’s role in global peace and maritime security. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the officers and sailors, stating that the entire nation is proud of them as they continue to prove their professional skills worldwide and work day and night to protect the country’s maritime borders.
