Islamabad: British High Commissioner Jane Marriott met Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar on Saturday, with discussions focusing on bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues.
According to the Foreign Office, both sides expressed satisfaction over recent high-level engagements between Pakistan and the United Kingdom and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in trade, investment, education, and development.
The meeting also underscored the importance of continued collaboration for regional peace, economic stability, and addressing global challenges such as climate change.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar described Pakistan’s ties with the United Kingdom as a vital pillar of its foreign policy and emphasized Islamabad’s interest in expanding economic cooperation with the international community.
Separately, Pakistan’s newly appointed ambassador to Romania, Ilyas Mahmood Nizami, paid a farewell call on the deputy prime minister.
The foreign minister commended Nizami’s contributions as Director General for South Asia and wished him success in his new assignment, expressing hope that he would work effectively to strengthen Pakistan–Romania relations.
