Hershey, Pennsylvania:
Country music superstar Keith Urban made his return to the stage on Friday, performing his first show since news of his split from wife Nicole Kidman was revealed. The singer played at the Giant Center in Hershey, Penn., having arrived via private jet earlier in the day.
During the show, which is part of Urban’s ‘High and Alive World Tour,’ the guitarist included a powerful, personal moment: a photo of Kidman and their daughters was featured in a slideshow shown onscreen as he sang his 2024 song, “Heart Like a Hometown.”
The “Messed Up As Me” singer also shared a personal anecdote with his fans about his early career, recalling his parents allowing him to drop out of school to pursue music full-time. Urban’s tour continues with multiple shows scheduled through mid-October.
The Fighter’ Lyrics Change Creates Buzz
Urban also generated buzz earlier by changing the lyrics to his popular duet with Carrie Underwood, “The Fighter,” a song originally inspired by the early days of his romance with Kidman.
The usual lyric is “I’ll be your fighter,” but Urban recently sang a different line, giving a shoutout to his band member Maggie Baugh by singing that he’d “be your guitar player.”
The appearance comes after Nicole Kidman officially filed for divorce from Keith Urban on September 30, citing irreconcilable differences after nearly 19 years of marriage.
