ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN – Mobile internet users in Islamabad and several other urban centres across the country faced significant connectivity disruptions on Thursday, severely impacting essential online services. Residents widely reported difficulties, particularly with WhatsApp audio and video calls.
Slow Mobile Internet Across Major Cities
Throughout the day, residents complained of sluggish mobile internet speeds. The disruption not only hampered routine browsing activities but also interfered directly with communication apps.
WhatsApp users were hit the hardest, with audio and video calls frequently dropping or failing to connect. File sharing on the platform also experienced noticeable delays, frustrating users who rely on the service for both professional and personal communication.
PTA Yet to Respond
Despite the mounting public complaints, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has not yet issued an official statement. This silence has left users uncertain about the cause of the disruption and when normal services might be restored.
PTCL Denies Fault
Meanwhile, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) clarified that its network was operating normally. A PTCL spokesperson confirmed that there was no fault detected in the company’s local network or in its submarine cables. This clarification suggests the issue likely lies within the infrastructure of the mobile internet service providers rather than a major national or international network failure.
