LOS ANGELES, UNITED STATES – Despite her status as one of the world’s biggest movie stars, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey actress Margot Robbie has revealed a profound anxiety about her career’s longevity, admitting she constantly fears her fame could be taken away.
Robbie explained to the Daily Mirror newspaper that her imposter syndrome keeps her from believing her success is permanent. “Is there a moment where I thought it was all sorted now? No, I think every time I’m like, ‘Oh, God, it’s all going to be taken away, I won’t get to do this again, this is the last time,’” she confessed.
“I have this complete crisis of faith every time, ‘What am I doing?’ I freak out every time. I care so much, for sure,” the -year-old star added.
Why She Hides Behind Accents
Robbie revealed that her anxiety about losing her Hollywood career was so consuming that she consciously refused to use her native Australian accent for her role opposite Colin Farrell in her new film.
“Our director actually said, ‘Do you want to do this in your Aussie accent?'” she recalled. The Barbie star confessed, “It’s been so long since I’ve acted in my Aussie accent, I’m scared I don’t know how to do it now.”
Robbie explained that she uses foreign accents “to kind of hide myself in a character.” However, she concluded that she may be reaching a turning point in her approach: “I’m in a mode now, I think, where I want to play characters that I see myself in more as opposed to hide myself in.”
