WhatsApp, the complimentary messaging and video calling application, is consistently introducing new functionalities for its users. It is now developing a new feature that will allow people to add their Facebook profile links directly to their WhatsApp profiles.
This feature is currently under development and was recently observed in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android, version 2.25.26.12, available on the Google Play Store.
With this update, users will have the option to link their Facebook accounts. Once connected, a small Facebook icon will be displayed next to the profile link on their WhatsApp profile. This will enable contacts to easily access a user’s Facebook account while also enhancing the credibility of the profile.
Similar to the optional linking of Instagram, adding a Facebook link will also be optional. Users who do not wish to display their Facebook profile can simply choose not to utilize this feature. For those who do, there will be an option to verify the account through the Accounts Center. Verified accounts will feature an official Facebook icon, whereas unverified accounts will show a simple link with the full URL.
Verification is not mandatory. Even if a user does not verify their account, they can still display their Facebook link, and their WhatsApp account does not need to be connected to the Accounts Center for this option to work. This provides users with full control over how their profiles are presented.
This development signals WhatsApp’s broader strategy to integrate more social media connections in the future. By allowing links to platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, WhatsApp aims to make profiles more transparent, trustworthy, and authentic. It could also potentially allow links to other platforms later, evolving WhatsApp into a central hub for verified online identity.
