According to recent reports, the late legendary actor Robert Redford, who passed away on Monday at the age of 89, asked for a quiet, low-key funeral. A source told RadarOnline.com that Redford’s last wish was for a private, family-only goodbye without any “pomp” or “red carpets.”
His spokesperson confirmed this, stating, “No red carpets. No cameras. No Hollywood circus. The family requests privacy.” A source close to the actor added that a “parade of A-listers” was his “nightmare” and that he “wanted peace, not pomp.”
Redford, known for his roles in classics like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and All the President’s Men, died in his sleep at his mountain residence outside Provo, Utah—a place he loved and considered his sanctuary. It has been confirmed that this residence will also be his final resting place. A friend of the actor told Hollywood insider Rob Shuter, “It’s exactly who Bob was… He hated the noise of celebrities. Sundance was his sanctuary, and that’s where he wanted his story to end.”
The actor’s family, including his wife, daughters, and seven grandchildren, will gather in the Utah mountains to say their final goodbyes. In a past interview, Redford had shared that he bought his land in Utah to find peace in solitude, a place where he could “have time with nature and raise my family and not ever get tied into that.”
The specific cause of death has not been publicly revealed.
