According to a statement from China’s commerce ministry on Friday, China will review issues concerning TikTok in accordance with its laws and regulations. The ministry also urged the U.S. to resolve its concerns through dialogue based on mutual respect and equal consultation. The U.S. Treasury Department has stated that ByteDance’s video app, which faces a potential ban in the U.S. unless it is acquired by an American company, will be on the agenda for a meeting with senior Chinese officials next week in Madrid.
U.S. President Donald Trump, who recently joined TikTok last month, has extended the deadline for the app to divest its U.S. assets to September 17.
