In a historic first for the tournament, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will be officiated by an all-female panel of match officials. While similar panels have been used at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the last two ICC Women’s T20 World Cups, this is the first time an all-female panel will be used for a 50-over Women’s Cricket World Cup.
The Emirates ICC Panel of Match Officials features 14 umpires and four match referees. The panel includes experienced officials such as Claire Polosak, Jacqueline Williams, and Sue Redfern, who will be officiating at their third Women’s World Cup. Lauren Agenbag and Kim Cotton, who were part of the 2022 final, will return for their second appearance.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah described the announcement as a “defining moment in the journey of women’s cricket,” highlighting the ICC’s commitment to advancing gender equity in the sport. He emphasized that the move is intended to increase visibility and create opportunities for women in officiating roles, inspiring future generations. The tournament will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka and is set to begin on September 30, 2025.
